*CLOSED* review and giveaway: go green pocket diapers!

on january 16th, 2009 i wrote my first blog entry about my pregnancy with river. this blog has come a long way and reading past entries has made me so nostalgic. i wrote a lot then, really digging into my emotions about being pregnant (in short: loved my baby, couldn't stand pregnancy). i can't believe it's been two years. this month i will be hosting giveaways for the next four weekends, in celebration of my two year "blogiversary." i am so excited to be hosting my very first giveaway today! more so, i am excited about what is being given away. ;)

3 things i love about go green pocket diapers

1. affordable

i found gogreen pocket diapers while searching on amazon for inexpensive diapers. i was so surprised to find a pocket diaper for under ten dollars, which is half the price of your average pocket diaper and less than what you usually pay for a single cover. this price makes cloth diapering with pockets much more realistic for some families who can't afford to pay $20 a diaper. all go green diapers are one-size and will fit most babies from birth to potty training, which also means less diapers to purchase. right now river is about twenty-four pounds and still fits in the second row of snaps, so i think this diaper will be in use over here for a long time!

2. cuteness factor

i don't think i've ever seen a bigger selection of colors and prints for a single diaper brand! the colors are bright and cheery and the prints are fun and modern. there are zebra stripes, soccer balls, monkey prints (cleverly named monkey pee, monkey poo ... how cute is that?!), and much more!

3. quality

i was wary at first about using a $9 diaper, but i have been pleasantly surprised! they are well-made and after using them for three months, they are in the same great condition in which they came. the colors have not faded a bit, the snaps are still strong and secure, and none of the stitching has become loose.

i have used them in just about every situation -- at home, running errands, night-time, and even traveling in a plane. river is a pretty heavy wetter and i wouldn't leave him in them for more than a few hours, as we have had a couple of small leaks, but as long as we're doing normal diaper changes, they work great. in fact, i've used them overnight with a doubler and they didn't leak! i've combatted the small leaks we had by making sure the diaper is on the right fit (for us, snapped to the first row of snaps from the top for the medium rise) and tucking in the wings to make sure the wetness doesn't wick out. they held up very nicely on our recent plane trip to pittsburgh (thaaaank you gogreen! one less headache! ;)... and just as a pocket diaper is supposed to do, his bum is always dry while the insert is soaked. sometimes i have to double check to make sure he's really wet!

seriously, these diapers are worth a try, and how can you beat the price? when my gogreen diapers from leah arrived in the mail, i liked them so much that just a few days later i ordered five more. overall, i would definitely recommend these diapers; in fact, i already have: a friend who was interested in starting cloth diapering was asking me what i would suggest and i brought out my stash of gogreen diapers to show her. with the ease and the price and the quality combined, starting out with go green is a great way to build an affordable, reliable stash of diapers that will last throughout the entirety of the diaper years, all for under $200.
